Computer information systems in the education sector remain susceptible to hacking by insiders and outsiders. Most often for financial gain, and for other times just to change a grade from “F” to “B.”
Reasons why the incident at the University of Central Florida raises heightened alarms are, “the professor said he recognized [Sami Adel] Ammar’s name because he had only completed one assignment all semester, and that that assignment wasn’t for a grade, but to prove he enrolled in the class for financial aid” (see line #6).
As mentioned in previous posts on this Blog, student financial aid represents a $1.1 trillion program funded at the taxpayers expense prone to waste, mismanagement and abuse. It is time for stricter oversight. Our national security could be at stake.
